I live in Oklahoma right down the middle of Tornado Alley. Severe thunderstorms that can produce softball-sized hail occur every year. Emergency preparedness is a critical issue for those of us who live in such areas. It's important to always have access to local news as well as NOAA weather. This emergency radio system offers this option in the AM/FM/NOAA settings. The sound is clear and free of interference. The system also has a built-in flashlight. It is also capable of providing 2000mAh phone charging when needed. There is an SOS button that emits a very loud scream when needed to alert nearby rescue workers. There are three ways to charge your device. USB to micro USB, solar and hand crank to ensure you can always use the device. There is an OBVIOUS ERROR on the product description page stating that it also uses 3 AAA batteries. This does NOT apply to this model. It uses a lithium-ion battery that needs to be charged. The device is compact and fits in a large bag. During storm season we store ours in our tornado shelter. Despite the bug regarding AAA batteries, I still consider this one of the best emergency kits in the general price range and give it a FIVE STAR rating. Let's hope we never have to use it for its intended purpose, but we get a warm fuzzy feeling knowing we can get the very latest information without having to rely on external power when needed.
