The springs in these latches are no joke and should be able to push a heavier door or drawer with adequate force. Unfortunately, that same force wasn't contained by the plastic plunger in this particular latch. When I took the first latch out of the package and depressed/released the plunger to test it, the spring shot the plunger across the room. After picking up all the pieces, I noticed the plunger was fractured in two at its base. I assumed this break was what caused the plunger to be jettisoned from the latch body like a not-so-soft Nerf bullet. As expected, the latch couldn't be reassembled rendering it useless.
