If you drive a lowered Volvo 240 you need rear shock absorbers! Although originally intended for Chevy trucks, they are the perfect length and travel for the rear of Volvo 240 series low-rise models. They control springs in the 200-275 lb/in range with no problem, unlike stock Volvo Shock absorbers designed for springs are half as much. One caveat is that the lower mounting bush is a size larger than the Volvo. You might be tempted to get a different size bushing kit from KYB to squeeze out the one that fits the shock and replace with the correct one, but don't do it. . The bushing is bonded to the rubber bushing on the end of the shock, so the extrusion also destroys the shock bushing, which KYB does not sell replacements for. You can take an aluminum can and cut out part of the side of the can to wrap 2.5 times and then insert into the end of the shock absorber to act as a bushing between the bolt and bushing to make up the 1mm difference. You may also need an extra washer to run the shock into the lower trailing arms as in my experience the sleeve on the shock is shorter than a Volvo part.
