Update: After I wrote this review, I was quickly contacted by Esky and also by the seller. The seller informed me that I would receive a full refund. I feel that they provided excellent customer service given the issues I encountered. I didn't actually request or ask for a refund, but I appreciate that they recognized the problem and tried to fix it without even asking me. Therefore I would give the participating companies 5 stars for their service. I feel I should leave the product with the original 2 stars based on the experience I have had with this product specifically. An unfavorable rating only applies to the product. The service I have received so far is great. However, given the quick response I received, I suspect I may have just received a faulty anomaly and my experience may not reflect the experience most will have with the product. Bad product sellers are not usually quick to respond to bad product reviews, so I will feel comfortable buying from them again. Initial review (edited slightly for readability and to clarify some ambiguities previously made): Good solid metal frame, easy to use. Adjust the angle of the camera up and down with 2 screws, but the color of the camera is not good. Even in daylight, camera colors are washed out. The greens are brown and the picture is almost black and white. At the same time, it has a fairly clear image and a good field of view. The license plate frame is nice but leaves no room for camera cables. The frame would have pressed the cables against the trunk lid if I hadn't installed a rubber grommet to protect the cable. I also had to cut a notch in the license plate to allow room for the wire, which wasn't very pretty. Maybe I just got a bad one, I don't know. Installation takes about 4 hours if you are new to this business. It took me a lot of searching and troubleshooting to find out that the wires on the red/black connector that came with this camera were so small that the connector I used (not included) to connect the wires to the Connecting wiring harness reverse light wire was no contact with the actual wire. The wiring provided by Esky with the product was so flimsy that it could not be connected. I confirmed that the Scotch splice made contact with the car's wiring because the multimeter showed voltage at the splice sheet, but I got no voltage at the camera end of the adapter. I had to connect another larger wire to the Esky wires and put this new larger wire into the tape joint to connect it. It took me about an hour and a half to rack my brains, troubleshoot with a multimeter, and reconnect to get around this. Not much fun when you are hot, sweaty and tired. You think a full install would be "easy, find out in an hour", but it really isn't when a quality issue like this is slowing you down. Also, the way the frame fits onto the plate allows the frame to rest against the trunk. cover and I was afraid it would scratch the paintwork so I had to buy a rubber band from a craft store and tape it to the surface under the panel to keep it in place. Otherwise, the edges of the carbide will "bite" into the paintwork from the normal vibrations of the vehicle while driving. This was a little frustrating and also took unexpected extra time to solve. You could put rubber coating or rubber pads on it to avoid scratches. (Or just include a rubber band with the camera.) Also note that the car wire sensor on the car light harness in the trunk lid is very small and requires a length of wire (not included). to get through the car to the dashboard (to connect the purple/white radio wire break), so long that you have about a 50% voltage drop. My radio monitor could still use the signal to trigger the backup abort screen, but you can check your radio/monitor's minimum startup specs to make sure it will accept this low voltage. I only got about 6.2 volts with the radio off and about 11.8 volts at the rear trunk lid. Note: A 9 meter RCA cable is included - it was long enough to send the video signal to the radio monitor. . What was not included was the signal wire needed to activate the reverse light to the radio so your radio/monitor will know you have just engaged reverse gear. I had an extra cable from a previous purchase at the auto parts store that I was able to use. Also check your radio's setup menu. I had a separate setting to enable interrupt. It was disabled from the factory and I had to enable this setting in order for the backup image to appear on screen while reversing. I didn't even know it was an option. I don't see why this could even be an option or why it would be disabled by default. So keep an eye on it. This little mistake set me back half an hour as I used my multimeter to test the video signal on the video cable at various points from the camera to the radio. (bangs his head against the wall) I ended up getting frustrated with the washed out color issue, so I plan to find another solution for my car. I don't know what I'm going to do with it. Maybe he just doesn't know how to work with the new KENWOOD radio like mine. I do not know. Maybe I'll give it to a friend to see what he can do with it. or just back. Spring.
