I don't know if it was my computer, router or adapter, but my router keeps downloading the settings at 100Mbps instead of the 1Gbps it should handle. I tried changing the settings on both the computer and the router, but after about 30 minutes of use, particularly during boot, the router reset them back to the 100Mbps setting. I bought another brand that plugged into a USB 3.0 port and no problem with that. I downloaded quite a bit and it never reset me to 100Mbps. Now I have Startech on my daughter's computer and it does the same thing. I think this adapter has some problems. My suggestion would be to try a different brand.
