My husband has a strange attitude towards life. Sometimes I can stand it, sometimes not. One of the things I can't stand is him putting heavy plastic objects in the cast iron skillet so he can press his toast into the pan for even heat. I HAD to get a cast iron press before I lost it along with her. Just take a look. HOW IT'S MADE It comes in a small box and looks like it could be pre-seasoned, but we seasoned it anyway. IT'S HARD? It's heavy enough to press on burgers and even hold toast in place. in a cast iron pot. IS IT EASY TO USE? This fits our smaller 8 inch cast iron skillets and we also use it in larger pots. This makes the burgers look really good. My husband likes to use this. He's very fond of squeezing things when they're in the cast iron skillet. I don't think he did it just because he knew it was driving me crazy. MAINTENANCE We always try to wash it off by scraping with chain mail what should be there and then re-greasing the press before putting it away to keep it from rusting. BOTTOM LINE If you need a hamburger press, this is a good one. It has ridges and is a pleasure to use on burgers. Even if you have a weird obsession with squeezing everything that's cooked in a cast-iron skillet, it can put you off getting a divorce. MY RATING IS FIVE STARS. Serious. It gives me so much peace of mind just knowing he's not throwing plastic in the pan all the time. I'm sure it won't be long before he picks up another annoying hanging jaw habit to replace this one. *rolls eyes*
