This is a folding plate. It's shiny brass. But brass is soft, so don't over-tighten the screws. The strike plate will dent where the screws are over-tightened. If you overtighten the screws and brass flexes, don't get mad at the manufacturer and don't write negative reviews. It's wrong to blame someone else because you don't know what you're doing. Do not turn screws with a power tool. Don't forget to pre-drill the holes. Working with soft brass and the screws that go with it requires care. Brass is strong enough to withstand the dents, bumps and abrasions associated with the life of a traditional strike plate, but it doesn't stand up to modern power tools.
