Aggravating. I like my retina too much to use it.

This helmet looks and feels very good. Unfortunately, it started flashing when I first used it. I turned on the delay but no change. I thought maybe the flickering overhead light would have triggered them somehow, but after trying incandescent, fluorescent, and LED lights, I couldn't see any improvement. I thought I could hide the sensors but I couldn't remember them. I bought this item a few months ago and haven't even had the chance to take it out of the box so thought maybe the batteries were dead, but a fresh pair of CR2032's measuring full voltage doesn't have them at all Fixed, I'm still getting random flashes anywhere from a few seconds to a minute. After reading online I found recommendations to leave solar powered helmets in the sun for a few hours to charge. Although this clearly uses batteries, at least to back up the solar array, I gave it a try. Bad luck. I've noticed that even with fresh batteries, as shown in the instructions, if I hold down the battery button it goes dark, but if I hold my hand partially over the solar panel at the same time, it dies. As if the batteries were completely useless. I'm so frustrated and sometimes blinded by it, I wish I'd bought a non-auto-dimming model right away. I'm always open to suggestions, but I'm leaving 1 star until I've completed a weld with this helmet.
