Review on ๐Ÿ“ Spring Divider Caliper Compass: Achieving Precision and Flatness by Rushabh Gonsales

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Badly made for calipers

I really liked the look of these spacers at Revain so despite a bunch of bad reviews which should have been a warning I went ahead and ordered them. Bad move on my part. You have to be persuaded to level up almost every time you try to use them. It's actually not that bad, because once you "tune" them, they stay at the same level...if you're very gentle. Get a little rough and you'll find yourself tweaking them again. So the actual benefit is zero. To make matters worse, both points were sanded asymmetrically. The points themselves touched (after being adjusted), but neither side was machined (sawn?) to the same shape. Sorry, the divider needs to be done exactly, and not willy-nilly finished and call it good. If you're looking for a retro tool, I'd recommend finding an old Starretts set at a garage sale. It will cost you more, but the difference will be obvious right away.

Pros
  • Inspect, measure and inspect
Cons
  • Big and bulky
