We have used this type of mat in the past and love its thinness and performance. We also used thicker mats. So if you want more padding, this might not be the best choice for you. And one more thing: This rug measures 8 x 10 feet. We've found it's easier if you don't freak out trying to get the mat all the way to the edge of the rug. We cut off about 2 inches from two adjacent sides and laid the rug on top of it as evenly as possible. We cut off about an inch sticking out of one end. Our 4 year old Cockapoo will appreciate the extra traction when we are chasing or running which he loves.
