Review on Freud Flush Groove Shank 48 112 by Kevin Zamora

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A good quality product, as Freud's material always is.

Good quality product as Freud's material always is. I bought this to make a small piece between the closet box and the face frame where they will be flush. It's better than trying to wash and sand them (especially with paint supplies and plywood boxes!) I unfortunately found that the groove it makes is too wide for my liking. I'm looking for a smaller, less visible groove that I got from a V-groove cutter. But not a 45-degree, but a 60-degree model from Milescraft, which I also bought from Amazon. It was exactly what the doctor ordered. Even if this piece wasn't appropriate for my particular project, it's not Freud's fault. Note, however, that with this attachment you get a 1/8 inch wide groove that is not adjustable. The V-groove bit allows you to adjust the depth and get a groove about 1/16 inch wide. I wanted it to look like the sharp milled edges on the front frame/body side were just hand sanded with 180 grit sandpaper.

Pros
  • Cuts all composites, plywood, hardwoods and softwoods.
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
