The device spontaneously destroyed itself after 3 months. Charring is visible on all three sockets, especially on the power rails, and on one wire of the glow lamp. Power was supplied via a safe GFCI circuit, but no loads were connected. The device was located outdoors with outlets pointing to the ground and approximately 2 feet off the ground. We were out of town when it happened during the storm and came home to find it. GFCI open, plus a 15A switch. The whole house is protected by Josyln's industrial-grade two-stage surge protection, so no overvoltage is possible. Fluke test tool shows short circuit between line and neutral. Identical block was on the same circuit with no problems. I'm a retired electrical engineer and I wrote a contact page for the power generation group and asked them to send me a mailing address for troubleshooting, which is a typical starting point in situations like this. No answer yet, maybe this will help get their attention as I believe this must be the root cause as these devices are also sold in many big stores. I recommend NOT BUYING until the manufacturer posts a bug analysis and next steps.
