Great if your dog isn't an escape master

I like the idea of this gate. I was looking for something retractable so I don't have to open the gate every time I want to go through when the gate isn't needed. I also don't want to look for a place to store non-retractable gates. However, the locks are not secure enough. My mixed pit bull figured out how to open this gate almost immediately; Of the three times we used the gate, he escaped twice! The only reason he didn't open it a third time was because we had put a big box in front of the gate to block him! lol. The part that slides out and retracts has 2 clips on the end that snap into J-hooks that you screw into the wall. While there is a dial to lock the length of the clasp (much like a tape measure can lock the hooks), nothing locks the hooks. That way a sly dog can pull the clips out of the J hooks if they really want to escape. We are considering a return. Also, it's really overpriced for what it is. 1 year update: well we didn't bring it back. ha ha. The gate stuck to me, and luckily my dog stopped running after those few tries (although we held boxes behind him for a while). I'll say if your dog is 50lbs or more and jumps on people and doors and the like I think he can find a way to get over those gates as it's a flexible material (although if you get the length set, it should stay tight enough). If not, then great goal! However, $70 - no matter how much I paid - seems like a steep price. BUT convenient and compact.
