Review on 🌡️ Stant 45369 SuperStat Thermostat - High Performance at 195 Degrees Fahrenheit by Jason Lee

Fixed cold coolant blowout

I was on top of my 1997 Ranger 4.0L engine to replace the intake gaskets so I decided to replace the original 19 year old thermostat simply because . During the life of the old thermostat I noticed several times during the winter that the coolant temperature gauge would first rise to normal operating temperature and then quickly drop back into the 'cold' range as the thermostat opened allowing cold coolant to flow into the engine block. I was hoping this SuperStat thermostat might fix that. Pros: - It works. Installation was easy and the product included some installation tips. The Stant website also has a nice FAQ that answers questions about differences in pivot pins, exhaust ports, etc. Compared to the stock thermostat, this SuperStat appears to do what it claims: coolant temperature rises more evenly. I verified this by looking at the coolant temperature sensor and comparing it to the operation of the old thermostat. I see no drop in this temperature sensor when the coolant first reaches normal operating temperature. Cons: - No gasket included. I had to buy these separately. Stant Thermostatic Gasket 25279 is the correct part number and Stant Thermostatic Gasket 27279 is a suitable replacement for the part number.
