Looks solid and well made

Purchased for my 1999 Explorer 4.0 ohv. Looks sturdy and well made. But I didn't have a V-notch or any other exit. I will most likely drill into it.

Pros
  • Hands free operation
Cons
  • Some bugs

Great thermostat so far, many years later.

Looks beefier than the motorized version of my Ranger 90 4.0 and the temperature is more even when opening and closing. Does exactly as advertised.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Functionality

Stuck Open - Replacement Parts

I used this thermostat for almost 2 1/2 years before it got stuck in the partially open position. I noticed that my car is not getting up to operating temperature. I replaced it with Motorad which works fine so far. It was used on the 2000 Explorer 4.0 OHV.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • No Automatic

To attempt. you will like it

Although I am now retired, I have been a service technician for over forty years. I've been using Superstats for a while. I've installed them on various cars. I've never had any problems with them. They look better than most other thermostats available.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Compatibility

Fixed cold coolant blowout

I was on top of my 1997 Ranger 4.0L engine to replace the intake gaskets so I decided to replace the original 19 year old thermostat simply because . During the life of the old thermostat I noticed several times during the winter that the coolant temperature gauge would first rise to normal operating temperature and then quickly drop back into the 'cold' range as the thermostat opened allowing cold coolant to flow into the engine block. I was hoping this SuperStat thermostat might fix that…

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Wire is shorter than other parts
