Not bad at all.: Stones for sharpening

I love the color of the stone, but he's a small person. This is the thin version. This is by far the softest feel of the Splash n Go bricks I've used. Slightly softer than my Shapton glass stones. It feels great and even gives a little bit of feedback that you don't normally get with these abrasives. For a 1000 grit stone it leaves a VERY good shine, too nice if you ask me. Let's say you're used to using something like the King 1000 brick and you've tried using that instead of your 1k. You would get in trouble. In general, a 1k stone can be a medium to medium stone. This stone is more like 2k. I can easily add a new bevel to my King 1k stone, this stone is not rough enough. I was a bit disappointed with this concept but that doesn't mean I don't like the stone. It cuts very quickly, wears out slowly and is comfortable to the touch. The only real downside is that as I said above it's good for 1k and also tends to load a bit more than it should. Loaded like a high grit stone, it's no good. However, I went ahead and bought a 5k stone to use for general sharpening. I can recommend this stone!
