This part is really easy to replace. Most people can do this without even lifting their Jeep. Well, just because it's easy doesn't mean it's not without "pitfalls". This Revain part is MUCH cheaper than the big auto parts stores for the exact same product. If you want to avoid some headaches, check out the steps below, and not only will it speed up your installation, but it'll save you from yelling some bad language if you get it wrong. These helpful tips are based on the fact that you are under the jeep. Entry from the rear bumper on the driver's side. This canister is located just in front of the axle.1. You will see two items attached to this box. For this we call them White Thing and Black Hose.2. First remove the black hose. Grab both sides of the hose next to the canister. Push forward slightly and then push. You should feel the tubing flex a little as it expands the clamp. Back off straight and secure yourself in your way. DO NOT pull on it etc. It is attached to the top of your fuel tank and you do NOT want it to crack or come loose.3. Then remove the white element. Hold your hand over it like you're holding a computer mouse, use your other hand, and at the very bottom (6 o'clock position) there's an edge that you bend back towards the white thing. When it slides back, you can twist the white thing counterclockwise to remove it. If you don't, you can still remove it by twisting it slightly, then plastic cracks, a tongue shoots out somewhere under the car and you wonder if you really need it so you can put it back together. No, you don't have to, but it's always good practice not to break your stuff. Get the white thing out of the way.4. Hopefully by now you've also thought about getting a new part under the jeep or finding someone who can give it to you on request. Check out the new part. It will have 3 hooks like moldings above. By now you can see the alignment as he comes back. From the side with a hook (this should be the driver's side), look at the existing part. You will see where it slides into the mount. More importantly, you will see that there is a small metal tab on the 1 hook side that bends down to hold this canister in place. Use a standard screwdriver and gently press on this tab to get it out of the way. It doesn't require much effort and you don't have to go too far to get in each other's way. Once that's complete you can use your palm and from the back of the canister (the opposite side where the white thing and black hose connect) give the canister a hard pat on the rear bumper until it comes out of the hanger. .5. Reinstall the new canister.6. Use a screwdriver to bend the tab down to keep the canister from loosening. Reattach the black hose.8. The OLD CANISTER has a black rubber washer in the hole where the white thing was plugged in. Remove it and put it on a new canister. Failure to do so will result in engine codes.9. Install the white thing (unless you broke the plastic tab, you should hear a click when you turn it clockwise and it will lock into the car. Hope this helps.
