I use this lens on a D7000 which gives a 35mm equivalent focal length of around 150mm. This makes it ideal for head-to-head portraits. I also use it in the studio for product photography. The lens is razor sharp and delivers excellent colors and contrasts. People say that this lens has to be learned. I do not see it. Its use is not particularly difficult. The defocus control can be ignored if you wish and you have the best 105mm lens in Nikon's range. If you decide to use it, just set it to any aperture (using the "back" side of the dial) and your bokeh will be very creamy. But to be honest the effects are subtle and even if you leave the DC setting at '0' the bokeh produced by this lens is exceptional. " See, this lens is perfect.
