Review on Arduino Micro Development Board with Headers [A000053] by Mary Cornett

I am a happy Uno user. I was interested in using the Micro as it integrates well with the breadboard. The first micro I ordered was connected to USB and I booted the Arduino IDE (1.8.10). I opened the Blink sketch, selected the Micro model, but I couldn't select the port. It turned out that the bootloader is either missing or distorted. I spent several hours burning the bootloader onto the Micro before the device turned out to be locked. Okay, I thought it was a coincidence. I'll send the defective board back and order a replacement. The replacement mic came today. I launched the Arduino IDE and uploaded the flashing sketch. It looks like the IDE recognized the Micro model and I was able to select the port. I started downloading. The download failed with a huge error log. I restarted the micro and tried to set up the blink sketch but the port wasn't available. I restarted my computer and tried again but to no avail. I connected a second computer, but the port remained unavailable. Got my Uno out and was able to use my first computer to successfully upload the Blink sketch. I will return micro. I think I'll try to buy an Atmel chip and program my own systems.
