Bought 14/16 for a boy who is 84lbs and 5ft tall and usually wears 10/12 in shirts. The sleeve length and the overall length of the coat are suitable for this, so you can take one size larger than usual. The upper body is cut quite wide, so it turns out big in this direction. FYI, the sleeves are fleece lined so they won't ride up over knitwear or other fleece like a polyester/satin lined coat. It's warm and he loves it, so it was a real win for less than fifteen bucks.
