Fits More Than Pocket Holes

I first started using these Kreg screws to make pocket hole hardware. With the Kreg Pocket Hole Kit, you can create pocket holes that look and work great. I quickly realized that Kreg screws are some of the best screws I have ever used. They are self-drilling, the square shank will never slip like a Philips slot or head, and they won't split the wood. For standard use (non-pocket holes), I use a custom pocket hole bit to drill a hole about 1/4" into the wood. This creates a flat-bottomed hole (allowing the washer on the Kreg screw to sit flat against the wood seated) and leaves the countersunk screw in the wood. Kreg makes two types of outdoor screws. One type has a blue coating that prevents rusting and acts as a lubricant. Other stainless steel screws. Blue screws are cheaper than stainless steel screws and I've never had them I use stainless steel when I don't want a blue paint or the screw is in a particularly aggressive environment, like treated wood next to salt water.
