This product is not a "real" HEPA filter. I bought the same product a year ago and it was previously marked as a genuine Hepa filter. They have since renamed the box and removed that statement. On the front box: 2 True HEPA Filters • Premium HEPA filters capture 99.97% of airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns. Now in the box: 2 HEPA filters • Premium HEPA filters. can capture most fine particles in the air down to 0.3 microns. Essentially, this means that these filters are not lab tested and do not meet HEPA standards. While "true HEPA" is admittedly a marketing buzzword, the fact that they no longer claim it can filter 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns is a cause for concern. Removes at least 99.97% of airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns (µm) in accordance with the US Department of Energy (DOE) standard adopted by most American industries. Some companies use a marketing term known as "True HEPA" to offer consumers HEPA-compliant air filters, although the term has no legal or scientific meaning. Products marketed as "HEPA Type", "HEPA-Like", "HEPA Style" or "99% HEPA" do not meet the HEPA standard and may not have been tested by independent laboratories. While these filters come close enough to HEPA standards, others fall far short.”
