After ruining many good cuts of meat with our unreliable, instant-read thermometer, we decided to give this digital thermometer a try. It got good reviews and was a reasonable price. We've been using it for several months with the same terrible results. We started believing we were the problem. We searched the internet to solve the problem. We installed a new battery in the block. We tried the steps to calibrate and were unsuccessful. The closest accuracy we have is 4.5. It's not fun to remember while cooking. Unfortunately, we didn't experience all of this for the short return window offered by the seller. The block is made in China.
