Review on πŸ” DEWALT DW6913 Router Edge Guide with Fine Adjustment and Vacuum Adaptor by Philip Lindsey

Customization is simply fantastic! Then I turn the knob one turn.

I hesitated to buy this fence until finally I found a review mentioning my particular router. Answers to questions are scattered all over the map, and some of them are completely wrong. So I'm writing this to hopefully clear up the confusion for others. This is an overview of the DeWALT DW6913 parallel fence. The item arrived on time and well packaged. The router is aligned with the guide block by means of an attached guide mounted on a plunge base. Previously, all fence adjustments were by eye and unpredictable. It is worth remembering that this block was designed specifically for Dewalt routers. Other routers will fit and perhaps this review will help others understand if this router will fit theirs. The instructions are very simple and only refer to installing the fence on the base. They mention rod sizes as 8mm and 10mm. The threads on the 8mm rods are used to attach the device to the Dewalt dw610 base. The rods do not twist with each other. 10mm rods are just rods with no other function. The 8mm rods are 280mm long plus thread. Rods with a diameter of 10 mm have a length of 380 mm. The length of the poles allows you to increase the depth of the fence. The box includes a fully assembled guard, two sets of rods, a dust reducer for small vacuum hoses, and two extra wing nuts and springs. I took some measurements to understand the setting. It looks like an M6 thread with a handy 1mm TPI pitch. Thus, each revolution of the scale moves the stop 1 mm, and each mark corresponds to 0.1 mm (slightly less than 0.004 inches). The total stroke of the stop is limited by a locking groove in the aluminum bracket. This bracket attaches to a stamped sheet metal stop. Support in just one position Total travel is 15mm Stamping is marked in both mm and inches Stems are mounted in two different locations giving two different spreads between tips Fixing wing nuts It appears the spacers are in Sae were designed as they come in 3.25" and 4.0" sizes. The dust container is removable. It looks like it can only work if one of them is edge milled. I think this will give you more control, but will take a lot longer to adjust than just using a stock bit. The stop plates can be extended for edge routing. The first picture shows the installation of my jig. The second picture shows two 1/4" end mills. The bottom mark was off center on purpose. I measured it with a ruler and found it was a little over 5/32" off center, so I turned the stop over shifted a little over 4 turns (I calculated it was 4.17 turns) I was pleasantly surprised to see that it had shifted about 4.2.mm and I push the center line as close as needed to turn making my grooves. One measurement one adjustment is awesome! Then I move the dial one turn in the opposite direction without regard for backlash. The third drawing shows this new touch and the one in the middle. It's really hard to tell but I don't think gaming will be a problem at all. However, tuning in one direction is always better. Overall I think this stop will do what I want. It suits my Makita RT 0701C and knowing how much the stopper travels per wheel revolution, and more importantly that it actually travels that much, will make adjustments that much easier and more accurate. If the bars and spacers are compatible with your base, I recommend this fence.
