I'm confused as to why all of you are getting so worked up about this hard disk. Despite the fact that I have only been using it for a short while (a few weeks to be exact), I have not encountered any noise or slowness. That was included for free with an external hard disk Seagate Plus Portable Drive that I received for free at work. Because I already own a device that is functionally equivalent to the one I intend to use for my home server, and because it is sufficient for my needs, I have opted to utilize it both as a system disk and as a disk for Hyper-V virtual machines. The performance of this drive should be sufficient for the time being, so I will probably move some of the virtual machines to another disk later. I will also agree that there is a possibility that it will one day be covered with a copper basin; however, in order to lessen the likelihood of this happening, I have created a backup of it. After having issues with a Hitachi drive that passed away unexpectedly in a Bose, I've been hooked on WD products for a long time. However, I got this one for free, and it would be a sin not to use it. I'm not sure why. In general, I leave it up to you, but right now I'm good with anything you decide.
