D-rings are bent from a piece of bar with the ends butting together. There seems to be an attempt to solder the ends together, but it doesn't always work. I can't tell if it was resistance welding or some kind of arc welding. I haven't examined all 10 pieces closely, but at least 2 have a noticeable gap between the ends of the bar at the weld. The remaining 8 pieces have welds of dubious quality and quantity. If I could I would test them under load to see if they would hit the 1200lb rating. If it were a lifting device, each of them would have to have a 5:1 safety factor, requiring failure at a load of 6,000 pounds or more. I'm not impressed.
