We bought this bag for a trip that was 5 hours one way and it worked great apart from the horrible noise of the straps. As with all other reviews, there are no instructions. This is pretty easy to endure if you have a roof rack. But we've learned that it's better suited to a roof rack with crossbars. The bag has back and front straps that are specifically attached to the crossbars at the back and front for passage through. Our SUV doesn't have them, so we attached them to the side bars instead. This created a noise problem. There was an awful hum from the straps, which caught the wind properly when you were going over 40 mph. It was terrible. So we decided to remove the front straps for reversing and that fixed the problem. The bag didn't move a bit. The mat that comes with it helps a lot too. The bag held up well. On the way home we were caught in a torrential downpour and one suitcase had a few water stains but nothing seeped through the luggage and we packed it to the top. So overall this is a great bag that serves its purpose. But be aware of the issue with the front straps if you don't have crossbars.*** Version added after initial review. The company emailed me asking what they can do to make us happier after seeing the noise issue. I told them I would recommend the instructions for the bag and maybe add to the description that it works best with the latches. They replied that they would add instructions. They also offered compensation which I didn't accept as we are very happy with the quality of the bag. Very pleasant and responsive business to work with
