My new M1 Mac Mini is great, but it failed on my 4K TV that I use as a monitor " HiDPI" does not deliver 3008 x 1692 resolution through the built-in HDMI port. I figured using a Thunderbolt adapter might fix this problem. I originally bought another brand's Thunderbolt for HDMI and it didn't work - it didn't work at 60Hz, even at a standard 4K resolution. I sent it back and bought this adapter. It works! Allows me to use desired HiDPI resolution at full 60Hz with good color resolution. The only problem is that when M1 turns off the monitor, there is currently a bug in MacOs that causes it to sometimes revert to a weird mode when using the monitor's native resolution (4K) but only the screen in the upper left corner (3008 x 1692). But that's not the adapter's fault - the same sometimes happens with the built-in HDMI port. I get around this by not letting the computer put the monitor to sleep, just using a screen saver and manually turning the monitor off when I'm done. As long as the computer doesn't turn off the output during sleep, it won't do this weird thing.
