I like that the water is heated in a glass. BPH or not, I don't like it when water boils on contact with plastic. A++ for using glass. I like the plastic mount and handle that doesn't get hot. A++ for that. The hinged lid needs some work. There is a thumb tab on the back of the lid that can be used to open and close the lid. This thumb slider slides into a plastic handle when the lid is fully open. The problem is that there is a plastic protrusion on each side of the thumb tab, making it almost impossible to lower the tab into the grip and then lift the tab out of the grip to close the lid. Unfortunately, it is necessary to press your thumb's tongue down into the handle to open the top far enough to clean the glass and add water to the glass before heating it. I solved the problem by sawing down the plastic tabs until the lid opens and closes with little resistance. It was very easy and only took a few minutes. I used a regular file but I think a nail file will do the trick but it may take a few more minutes. I attribute this issue to poor quality control at the Chinese factory that makes them. This error is easy to fix, but when I buy something new I don't usually expect to have to modify the product to make it usable. It is possible that only a few cups have this defect, so most are fine. The only other issue I had is that when the water is hot it can be difficult to get it out of the jar if you press the lid all the way down before heating. But if I just push it halfway into the jar, it pops open easily when it comes out of the microwave. This is a potential security issue. If the lid is pushed all the way in and is difficult to lift when hot water is inside, a person can use force and squirt the boiling water. The lid doesn't get stuck when hot and I would advise anyone buying this to be careful not to push the lid all the way in until hot. I think both of these issues should be addressed by the manufacturer, either with minor changes to the product or better quality control at the factory. One improvement I'd like to see is the addition of measuring lines on the glass mug to make it easier to add the exact amount of water I want to heat. I'm currently experimenting with permanent marker but this would be a real improvement and would be very easy to make in a factory. In summary, I think this is the best microwave kettle I could find. The basic design is far superior to any other product I've looked at. Whatever it is, I'd say it's a bit pricey, but it's worth a few bucks more to get a better product. But they really need to solve the problems I listed. Overall I like it so much that it made it worth buying and then fixing the issues rather than settling for poor design, but I'm hoping that this company either fixes these issues or that a competitor does one Glass mug and such a handle design offers does not heat up, but without the above problems.
