🍵 DormCo PS-92 Microwave Whistle Tea Kettle in White, 7 Inches Review

Nice way to make hot water for my coffee pot in the microwave. If this pitcher had a Fl-oz marking it would be perfect. For those who say it doesn't whistle - mine does whistle but I believe the lid has to be pressed firmly to close and the water has to be heated to boiling point and left there for a while. I think the whistling is caused by pressure build up, so the lid needs to be lowered all the way to create a seal. I like this baby - the size is great, it works, it's good value.

I bought this as an alternative to the electric pot I use to heat water. It works well. The white part of the image is a plastic border that looks a bit weird but works really well. This will prevent you from touching the glass part that gets hot as the water heats up. The kettle will whistle, but I don't mind. Had to switch to decaf and can't stand instant coffee but I only drink one cup a day and don't want to waste and spend a single car service. I now use this with a cone filter over my coffee mug and it works great. My only issue was the thumb tab that fits into the top of the grip. It fits so tight that it was dangerous to open it when the water inside was hot. I used a utility knife and gently shaved the small bumps on each side of the tongue and it came out perfectly. I use it to heat water for draft coffee when I only need one cup (less wasteful than the pod system and easier to clean than Drip Brew). Filling this to the max line takes almost 5 minutes to heat up to a whistle in my 1100w microwave. Since I only use it to heat water, it doesn't need to be cleaned often. This was chosen to replace the glass 2 cup measuring cup with a poor spout and handle that was too hot that I used to boil water for tea or ready meals . I like that the water is heated in a glass. BPH or not, I don't like it when water boils on contact with plastic. A++ for using glass. I like the plastic mount and handle that doesn't get hot. A++ for that. The hinged lid needs some work. There is a thumb tab on the back of the lid that can be used to open and close the lid.
