First and foremost we wanted the box to be as safe as possible for our pup. The breeder warned against wire boxes because the puppy's teeth and claws could get caught in the "bars" of the wire boxes. Since this model with its vertical bars and smooth sides was an eye-catcher - and looks really fantastic. In terms of construction, it could use a little help - it's a hard plastic resin that conforms great and stiffens when it's all put together. But with plastic latches and very minimal corner supports, it's not the most durable. BUT since it met our basic criteria and actually looked that good, I decided to reinforce the weak points with a couple of metal L-brackets on each corner and flat L-brackets on the corners of the front door. This greatly improved the box in terms of its strength. We ordered two of these, one for the top floor and one for the bottom floor - each had a damaged panel. One I was able to fix with epoxy as it was just a corner that was peeling (it's actually stronger now). Another had a cracked front door frame that was repairable but didn't look good so I contacted the manufacturer and they immediately sent a new part. So if you want a really nice box and don't mind reinforcing it with metal braces I would recommend these!
