Great for surface snorkeling

I have a love/hate relationship with the Seaview full face snorkel. I highly recommend this for surface diving. For those with TMJ or other mouth issues, and for those who have problems with mask leaks due to facial wrinkles, this hose is a game changer. There really is a wide, clear view 180 degrees in all directions, and the mask doesn't leak or fog up at all on the surface. It was also nice not having to hold the mouthpiece in place, which can be problematic when using a regular snorkel for those with TMJ or mouth issues. However, finding the right size is difficult. I ordered size LG/XL based on the size chart provided. (How are you supposed to get accurate measurements when your nose is in the way?) I was just at or above the cutoff on 3 measurements. Anyway, unless I kept my mouth wide open the whole time, the large mask left a gap of more than an inch under my chin for water to get in. So everything went back. I ordered SM/MED. This fits snugly and keeps water out of the mask area. Unfortunately, it keeps putting uncomfortable pressure on my jaw no matter how much I loosen the straps. The next day I had two sores on my jaw. I want Head to make a medium size mask. It's not a problem, but the fit could be better. Also, this isn't an underwater snorkel (if you want to snorkel, read my Ameo Powerbreather review). When I dove underwater at Seaview, the pressure on my face became unbearable even at a depth of a few feet, and my mouth became flooded. I had to get up quickly. This can cause panic in inexperienced divers. I also don't like elastic fabric straps, which I think quickly degrade in the sun and sea water and become unusable. Why not use the heavy duty plastic straps used on all other snorkel and scuba gear? WARNING. Full-face snorkel masks have been linked to drowning, possibly due to CO2 anesthesia. I did a lot of research before choosing the Seaview due to the CO2 levels and improved ventilation. I first tried this snorkel in the pool and experienced a slight lack of air after a long swim at a moderate pace >20 minutes. Based on this I would recommend: 1) Pay the extra and buy Seaview or another brand that is CO2 tested (avoid cheaper fake full face masks if you value your life) 2) Take a deep breath and exhale forcefully , to try how to exhale more CO23) Stop snorkeling every 10-15 minutes, take the mask off your face and take a few deep breaths in the fresh air to get rid of the CO2. Do it even with a sea view! 4) Relax and enjoy the view!
