Review on πŸ”₯ Wishiot ESP8266 Burning Fixture Development Board: Easy Programer for ESP-01S, ESP-07, ESP-07S, ESP-12E, ESP-12F, ESP-12S by David Jennings

Simplifies the ESP* process, allows the use of SMD modules - very useful!

Now with this breakout board I can buy any number of different variations of small SMD ESP modules costing around $2 each, plug them into this breakout board here for easy programming and access on GPIOs etc, and once it's done, I can pull them out again to use in whatever project they're used for - tiny, fast, simple and EASY! I didn't realize how useful it would be to have a dedicated programming board. ESP* modules. Until recently I did what most of you probably do - buy a pre-soldered ESP8266 breakout board + module options, not just SMD ESP modules. I figured I could pay a little more and sacrifice the form factor for convenience and not have to deal with clunky and tiny SMD ESP modules. Well friends, it's a new day and era with Wishiot's ESP breakout board. This doesn't seem like a big deal, but trust me, it really simplifies the whole process and opens the door to next level ESP programming as you are no longer constrained by the large prototype form factor forced upon you when You get everything pre-soldered. A breakout board + module. I've included a video showing the insertion of the ESP-F module into Wishiot's breakout board to demonstrate how easy it is to use. Apologies in advance for the poor red lighting and loud buzz - I've been working with some non-pixel LEDs and the video was kind of an afterthought, but you get the idea. The cutting board is really well made, with a thick acrylic base and nice big reset/load buttons. All in all this is a worthwhile investment for those who do a lot of ESP module programming, the cost of the board is quickly offset by the savings you get by buying individual SMD ESP modules.
