Not sure why the picture of this item is wrong but the picture below is the correct item, the packaging has the model number in the title. Anyway, the version I got works great. It is screwed onto a tripod (1/4 inch) and then binoculars are screwed onto it. It is made of aluminum. It's not too tall to lose rigidity and has a grip that protrudes a little past your binoculars lens to allow you to tighten the adapter. I think this adapter will last a long time. I have several 16x50's installed. Hope that helps.
