Review on Enhance Engine Performance with Motorcraft RT1201 Thermostat by Randy Montiel

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy install, quality part, much better with integral gaskets

If you need a thermostat for your 1999-2003 Ford 7.3 then this is the place for you. I've been driving with a bad thermostat for three years and after a very cold ride I decided it needed to be replaced asap. Easily replaceable and does not require additional seals. Also, I would recommend buying a new housing (Motorcraft RH63). If you have an upper radiator hose that goes through the serpentine belt, it's time to replace it with a wraparound one (Motorcraft KM4351). .) Spatula Flat Head Screwdriver Instructions: 1) Drain about a gallon or two of coolant, pinch the top hose to see when it goes down so you don't make a mess. 2) Remove the upper radiator hose. 3) Remove the three screws housing 4) Remove old, pry out with screwdriver if necessary 5) Scrape dirt off sealing pad, being careful not to get it in coolant 6) Install new, put housing on and 20 ft. lbs. for RTV but you can give a little if you want 7) Spray a little (cue a little) wd40 on the body so you can put the top hose 8) Add coolant, check for leaks, test drive, check for leaks
