Review on πŸ“· Zenit MC-Helios #40-2 85mm f/1.5 Lens in Nikon Mount: High-Quality Optics for Nikon Cameras by Edyta Dywan ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Satisfied with the purchase one hundred percent, I recommend the product for everyone.

Artistic fast prime lens with manual focus for those who want to get confused. Suitable for macro, and for portraits, and for landscapes (but still mostly for portraits). Before buying, it makes sense to rent for a couple of days and play around with a similar lens. Has some pros: Aperture F1.5. The minimum focusing distance is less than a meter. The version with the letter "H" in the name has a native shank for the Nikon F mount, fits normally without an adapter and does not require an additional lens (infinity focusing works). Full metal body. Massive, solid, pleasant to hold in your hands. It seems that the lens will survive a fall on the pavement (not tested). Looks solid and serious. Long travel (about 3/4 full turn) of the focus ring. No problems with the diaphragm mechanics were noticed. The front lens is recessed relative to the cut of the metal body of the lens, forming, as it were, a built-in hood and reducing the likelihood of smearing the lens with your fingers. Has cons: Very shallow depth of field at wide aperture. Heavy (more than 800 gr). The front protective lens cap from the kit is immediately in the trash. The no-name cover for 50 from Chinese online stores will hold much more securely. No hood included. Case not included. The aperture is controlled by not one, but two rings, which is unusual for many modern photographers. There is no dot-mark on the body for pairing with the dot-mark of the camera mount (but it is on the shank).
