I had a plastic plug from a Powertec blaster that kept getting plugged with a planer. After cleaning half a dozen times I settled on this metal. It really eliminates the clogging problem and is very durable which is a big plus. Unfortunately, the non-clogging mechanism leaks horribly and causes a significant drop in suction. I sealed the bottom with aluminum tape to stop the leak and just peeled it off to clear the clog (still better than plastic). Another major annoyance is that my planer has a blower (a 13-inch Dewalt DW735X) and a gate. so thin that dust is scattered everywhere. I had to pinch a bit at the top to close that gap at the top. A thicker moving piece of metal between the plates would completely solve this problem but of course increase the cost.
