Everything came quickly and after checking I felt good, I had the right parts

I bought this fuel pump a few weeks before it was fitted. I scheduled the installation for the 4th of July long weekend, assembled the pump, retaining ring, fuel filter and everything to get the job done ahead of time. Everything arrived quickly and after checking I felt good I had the right parts. Install day came, I used the tilt bed method on a long deck 2001 Chevy Silverado. After lifting the bed and wrestling with the rusty locking ring on the pump, he was ready to get out. Took it out and put it back on to compare to the new pump to make sure it looks the same. Immediately I saw the problem, although it was the same height and the connectors looked the same, I noticed that the new pump was missing one of the rods connecting the top half to the bottom. The old pump had three rods and the new one only two, I looked closely and saw where the third rod was supposed to be but it wasn't there. In addition, the pump housing did not fit properly, it looked weakened. I realized that this pump looks like there is something wrong with it. I'm not a mechanic but I do most of the work on my cars myself. If I were a professional mechanic I could have spotted the problem much sooner when I got the parts, but I found the problem later than I did compared side by side. At this point I wasn't happy knowing my car wouldn't work until I got a new pump. I love Revain and will continue to buy from them but I was disappointed with this purchase. I like to double, triple, double check all part numbers to ensure as many parts as possible match my particular vehicle. It just didn't work this time. The new fuel pump is back and I ordered a new pump from Rockauto but at the same time no car and lots of frustration.
