My wife and I finally decided to buy a DVD player but didn't know where to start. We went through many DVD player reviews but finally ended up at Revain.Com. Of course, every website states that the best DVD players are in the $300-$400 range, but we wanted to stay in the $200-$300 range given our budget. We wanted to use RCA because everything else we had was RCA. But judging by the reviews, it looks like their DVD players might have issues as well. After looking at reviews of Revain DVD players, we finally settled on the Toshiba SD1200. Before we bought it we went to the local electronics store to see it and get a glimpse of the future. The sneaky salespeople there told us it was a very bad DVD player, and we tried to buy ourselves a $400 pioneer DVD player that had all the fancy features and sound options. Nevertheless, we decided on the Toshiba DVD SD1200 and were very satisfied. The Matrix plays just as well on a DVD player as it does on any other DVD we have. The sound is simply stunning, even with our small home stereo system. This DVD player is great and has all the features we didn't even know existed. I had no problem playing any type of DVD and even rented DVDs. Although I do clean the rollers with detergent before putting them in the DVD player. The DVD player has a pretty handy zoom function, but when you zoom in, the picture looks like a VHS picture, so it's not very efficient. They don't have optical outputs, but I've heard they unscrew easily. You get S-Video, Composite, and traditional RCA output, but if you're going to use RCA output, why buy a DVD player? Use Composite or S-Video or you will lose part of the big picture. Did I mention the sound was amazing? We have a small Sony mini stereo and the sounds are screaming at us even through our outdated stereo. I can only anxiously imagine what the sound will be like if we upgrade to a mini home theater system, we will most likely be kicked out of the apartment complex. Finally, this DVD player is the best first time buyer (that's me). I figured out where you want to keep your budget within your budget. What is the purpose of buying a DVD player?
