Received my food processor today (6/1/18) after mine from the 80s broke last week. The first thing I made was cashew butter, it's dreamy and creamy. Really cool! My second use, after only 20 minutes, was making hummus from scratch. My soaked and cooked chickpeas were literally flying in all directions and everything was going so well until the motor slowed as the paste started to form. It then emitted a faint burning odor until it stopped completely. Then smoke came out from under the device and after an hour of inactivity it does not turn on. Maybe I overloaded it? Maybe they overcooked the peas? But I'm neurotic as hell and follow recipes to within 1/16th of a teaspoon, and I've made this exact recipe before (on a different machine). I am very upset that it broke on the SECOND use on the first day. I just really wanted hummus, you know? I'll be calling support on Monday and updating this review, but for now hummus makers, take note.
