Review on SUNDUO Electric Protection Stainless Countertop by Kaveen Restoration

Revainrating 5 out of 5

almost perfect in every way

(quotes Mary Poppins) : ) Okay I got this kettle today but I think I'm in love. I followed the included instructions to heat the water to the top fill line twice to clean the kettle and then wiped the inside with a soft cloth. That being said I appreciated some features which are a definite improvement over our last kettle (which broke after only 3 years - ok that may be a long time in terms of today's appliances but too early in my opinion). I have high hopes for its replacement - this product - but I'll update this review if it disappoints. Our newest kettle was the Chef'sChoice 673 Wireless Compact Electric Kettle (https://amazon.com/gp/product/B0058VCYRS), which costs $10 more than this one. Great while it lasted, but after 3 years of use 3-4 times a day the on/off switch refused to stay in the ON position rendering the whole thing (otherwise in good condition) completely unusable. I was looking for a comparable sized replacement (1L size narrows the playing field a lot but we live in a family of 2 with a very small kitchen so that's what I wanted). And I decided to try glass instead of stainless steel, since glass allows you to watch the water boil (and stop it whenever you want); Also, I found stainless steel to be difficult to clean inside and out. I was about to buy Hamilton Beach (https:/amazon.com/Hamilton-Beach-Compact-Kettle-40930) considering it costs 10.7k, several broken glass reviews got me thinking. I don't know what type of glass Hamilton Beach uses and the description doesn't say it (why not?). But the SUNDUO kettle (this product) uses borosilicate glass, which is extremely durable, so Sunduo got a +1. The Sunduo's wide opening was a +2 - the small opening of my old kettle made it almost impossible to clean and I could see it would be no different than Hamilton Beach. The fact that Sunduo's Revain offering (but interestingly not the included manual) comes with detailed cleaning instructions was a +3 - how I wish I had such instructions for my old kettle that was about to have a discolored ring (rust? minerals? ) Developed at the bottom. I also liked the detachment of the latch from the switch (Hamilton Beach has one too, but Chef's Choice doesn't) as the switch malfunction turned my brand new "old" kettle into the trash. I hope the on/off button on the Sunduo will last longer as it doesn't need to be used as often. I also like the stainless steel Sunduo filter on the spout; Hamilton Beach has one too, but my old Chef's Choice teapot had some kind of gauze in it that soon disintegrated. All in all, it looks like the Sunduo electric kettle is going to be a big upgrade over my pricier (prematurely dead) Chef's Choice, and it also offers features that make it a lot more future-proof than the slightly pricier 1-litre glass kettle Hamilton Beach.
