In the process of restoring my 300ZX; and decided to clean up the engine bay while the engine is not running. My wiring harness was wrapped in blue tape that didn't match my car's overall color scheme and was starting to show its age. I spent some time looking for high temperature tape and came across a silicone self-adhesive tape that I had never heard of. It is very easy to install and looks great afterwards. See attached picture. Blue loom left before application and wrapped with X-treme silicone sheeting on the right. The process is simple, wrap the entire loop with tape and make sure the first pass has a significant overlap. This tape has no glue; he is only connected to himself. It is very stretchy and will stretch 300%. Pull it up, making sure it covers 1/3 to 1/2 of the width on each pass for complete coverage and weather protection. I can't say anything about the durability; I'm curious how it holds up in a cramped, hot engine compartment. I will report.
