I had the exact same instantaneous thermometer that wore out after a year of continuous use (sourdough bread and bbq). I have another one just like it because I love how comfortable it is! The probe folds into a device and attaches to a small slot on the handle. With good eyesight, the digital display is easy to read. (It's a bit difficult for my old eyes that need some help). There's a light you can turn on to see that I'm dark. There is also a list of temperatures for different types of meat. I also use it for sourdough cooking applications up to 209-210 degrees. I think I might need a probe that's about 3-4 inches longer for the grill, but that's not too bad. All I have to do is place the meat in front of the grill before checking the temperature. Convenient and easy to use.
