Much better than my Fitbit Blaze

This watch competes with smarter Fitbit watches and since I've been using the Fitbit Blaze I'll mostly compare it to them The only place where Fitbit devices win, is a self-hosted application and automatic activity detection. While I usually prefer the Garmin app, it annoys me that food tracking is outsourced to the Under Armor app. They sync with each other, but the Under Armor app is about 90% ads, bloated, and awkward to use. Additionally, this device has trouble detecting exactly when I'm walking up a flight of stairs and is 100% unable to auto-detect activities like walking, jogging, or cycling. Those are the downsides. About Pluses.1. Heart Rate: Heart rate detection is near-perfect, especially compared to my old Fitbit. The Garmin almost never lost heart rate while the Fitbit kept dropping.2. Built-in GPS: I can only run, bike etc with the watch and it has BUILT-IN GPS. A number of Fitbit products claim to track activity using GPS, but the fine print tells you they use your phone's GPS for tracking. So you're really no better off than just using one app on your phone at this point. .3. Battery life. The battery life of Garmin watches is incredible. I can easily go a week without charging. In fact, I get MORE lives than Garmin claims. The only caveat is that with GPS tracking, you can burn out the charge over a long day or so. For passive wear, however, it's epic.4. Screen: I wasn't initially impressed with the screen, it's a reflective color LCD so it's a lot less bright than some other smartwatches. However, this reflective screen has some advantages that I didn't consider at first. Since it is an LCD, it can be on all the time. That means you don't have to push buttons or twitch the odd hands to check the time. When it's dark outside, a quick tap on the screen turns on the backlight. Also, the screen is touch-sensitive, which makes navigation very intuitive. device navigation. According to the point above, you can move around the watch using several tricks: swiping and touching the screen, swiping on the opposite side of the crown button, and pressing the crown button. This flexibility allows the watch to be worn with gloves.6. Personalization: There are many great watch faces and apps for Vivoactive watches.7. Watch Bands: Unlike Fitbit, Garmin has opted for a traditional watch band system. That means you can buy any style of wristband and use it with Vivoactive. Personally, I'm a fan of metal bands, so it was easy to find something that suited me. Overall much better than other suggestions I've tried.
