This three-wire regulator is designed as a reservoir. It doesn't have any markings other than arrows pointing up or down, but it's wired so that when held, like any other off-the-shelf controller, the up button is away from the cord and the down button is closer to the cord. I mention this as I first bought one of the $20-30 units and it was wired across the street and could be confusing or even dangerous if used by someone expecting something different to happen in a loaded script . This device is solid with heavy padding and reinforced plastic that should withstand some abuse. You get what you pay for and it appears to be good value for money.
