When our parents died, we had to shred a lot of paperwork. Most of them weren't very secure, but personal enough to warrant destruction. I chose this shredder mainly because it's inexpensive and fits in any paper basket, so it's more compact than bulky, often heavy, one-piece shredders. very happy with it! A few things to know: It's a lightweight shredder, it has a CD and credit card slot that works well, but it can't handle thick paper - a few sheets at a time. Like most small grinders, it will overheat and shut down if you grind for a very long time. The blade lubrication helps with this. Patchwork - long stripes. It doesn't shred it into small pieces like many paper shredders do, but has the advantage of going through it fairly quickly. For the price I can't complain and will definitely buy another one. I really like that the device is so small and fits in any wastebasket. This makes it easy to move around, it's definitely portable!
