I like this dead blow hammer for hitting stuff without so much recoil, and it's soft enough to bash things that need a good whack without damaging the thing.Anything sharp you whack, the damage will be on the end of the hammer, not on the part. It's a very hard black rubber that takes a beating, but can be damaged hitting the wrong stuff. The good news is, that's exactly what you want this thing to do and it does it well. In fact, as far as that goes, it performs just as good as any other dead blow hammer I have.I took one star because I noticed the rubber leaving black scuff marks on some things when I hit them. This isn't a big deal on most stuff, but there are times where you don't want a black mark left behind.The shank is strong, and it feels like it has a lot of small steel shot inside. It hits with authority, and doesn't rebound too much. It puts the force into the object you're smashing. Strong comfortable rubber handle feels nice. Looks like this thing will last a long time.I have a feeling this will be in use in my home and business for many years. Great tool
