I was initially hesitant to purchase this as some negative reviews and pictures showed how fragile it is. After using it, I realized that some people may have used it incorrectly. It should not be used like a drill when applying constant pressure. This can cause the drill to stop or bend if you have a strong drill. Instead, I kept bouncing up and down, throwing some of the dirt away so it wouldn't get stuck. I learned this while using a professional drill to dig posts. As long as I did that I had no problem digging holes. I can't tell if this works on hard clay, but it works great on regular soil. If the soil is too hard, soak the soil in water the night before to loosen the soil.
