I can't remember why I bought this item but I never used it until I had to service the transmission on my 99 Silverado 5.3 4WD. Since I didn't really have the money to even do the job and it had to be done with this used truck I bought and was 20,000 miles overdue, I was in a situation. All of these first generation engines have transmission drain tubes that tend to strip the bolt head when attempting to remove them due to poor construction. Without enough money to lower the sump and replace the filter and gasket, I had no choice but to do a few partial liquid flushes until I got it right, or have the store do it. So! I have used this pump by inserting a hose into the filler tube of a 4L60E transmission and pumping the contents of the sump into one of two identical containers. I then measured the contents of what I had removed and used this pump to replace exactly what I had removed from a second identical container that I had filled with brand new trans liquid at the same power level. So I did it once, then drove the truck for a day and then washed it again. I've done this 3 times and it has definitely improved shifting, response, durability and gas mileage in that time. So that's the thing for me.
