Many years ago I was given a 6" SAE stainless steel ruler by my father after I enrolled in drawing art class 101 in high school would have. He was a draftsman and he always had rulers, stencils etc around the house when I was growing up and all my siblings learned to draw when they were little. Years after I got this incredibly useful ruler, it was lost when moving from Europe. I've been looking for a replacement for almost a dozen years and still haven't found it as useful as the line it gave me in the 1980's. and flexible lines. They are very thin, making them difficult to lift off a flat surface. It will probably take a bit of force to keep bending them, but I've noticed that they start to "jump" when I put them on a flat surface, like a drawing board or even a table. As others have pointed out, the pocket clip is useless. My original had a clamp that was almost impossible to slide up and down the rule. As I moved it, I felt tiny clicks with each step on the ruler. The clamp for this can easily fall off as it slides freely up and down on the scale. I think there's a group of old draftsmen who remember these neat little rulers and hope they're of the same quality as they were years ago. before the advent of CAD, when most draftsmen and engineers carried rulers, because prototyping was all about making a real prototype.
